blaneytc Another long haul traveller was All Star champion and frequent WoO racer Dale Blaney, driving the #40 car of unknown origin. Blaney didn't make the top 60 cut in qualifying after the first night, relegating him to a series of last chance races for little money and little chance to advance, so he opted to not return Saturday night. burrowtc Washington's Bobby Burrow also made the trip to run for the $70,000 purse. Unfortunately, he was involved in one of many prangs in turn two on opening night during heat race action, and took a tire to the cockpit, injuring his arm and chest. He walked to the ambulance, and was in obvious pain in his left arm, shoulder and chest area, as the impact was large. They wrapped him up at the track. San Jose Speedway 11-7-97. 28k
