LAS VEGAS, NV (November 1) – Danny Lasoski and Steve Kinser exchanged the points lead five times during the O’Reilly World of Outlaws Series’ 25th Anniversary Season, but Lasoski wasn’t about to let Kinser pass him Saturday at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

“The Dude,” who finished 141 points behind Kinser in the final point standings, led all 30 laps to complete his fourth multi-feature sweep of the year. The $12,000 victory was Lasoski’s third “A” Feature victory at Las Vegas’ semi-banked, ½-mile oval.

Lasoski and “The King of the Outlaws” took turns passing each other for first place during the exciting 25th lap.

“I had no idea that Steve was that close to me,” Lasoski said of lap 25. “I was just trying to run the bottom and make good laps and keep the car under me, but when I saw ‘The King’ beside me it was definitely a wake-up call to get going and get it done.

“(Crew chief) Jimmy Carr and my whole team did a great job all year long. It’s a shame we couldn’t win another championship for J.D. Byrider and Tony Stewart Motorsports. We were right there most of the way, but at least this weekend will give us the drive to work hard all winter long and come back to try it again next year.”

Lasoski, who won the 2001 series champion, who won his fifth Preliminary Feature of the year Friday. He earned the privilege of starting the “A” Feature on the pole by winning Saturday’s Dash Race. “The Dude” burst into the lead as the green flag fell in the main event and was three car-lengths ahead of Kinser when they entered lapped traffic 10 laps into the race.

Craig Dollansky, racing for the third time since returning from a back injury that kept him out of action for five months, passed Terry McCarl and Donny Schatz in the high groove between the third and fourth corners to take over fifth place late in the opening lap.

Schatz, whose team passed Sher-Don Motorsports for fifth place in Car Owner points Saturday, started outside the fourth row. The 1997 Rookie of the Year drove his #15 Parker Stores J&J past Dollansky in turn four to regain the position the next time around.

Kevin Gobrecht Rookie of the Year Jason Sides collided with First Heat Race winner Kraig Kinser in the fourth corner two laps later, causing both to flip. Neither driver was injured, but only Sides as able to continue racing.

Steve Kinser, who celebrated his 18th O’Reilly World of Outlaws Series championship following the race, steered his #11 Quaker State Maxim around Sammy Swindell high in turn four to take over second place within a lap after the green flag replaced the red.

Lasoski was eight car-lengths ahead of “The King of the Outlaws” midway through the race. Schatz, who won the 1999 season finale at The Dirt Track at Las Vegas Motor Speedway, used an inside move between the first and second corners to pass fast qualifier Joey Saldana for fourth place early in lap 15.

Roger Crockett blew a right rear tire, hit the turn-one retaining wall and flipped two laps later, taking the leaders out of lapped traffic and tightening the field. Schatz continued his run toward the front as the race resumed, taking the high line around Swindell between the first and second corners.

Dollansky surrendered seventh place late in the 20th lap when Karavan Motorsports’ #7 VMAC Maxim lost power, causing him to stop on the back straightaway.

Kinser rode the rim around “The Dude” in turn two five laps later, only to have Lasoski regain the lead with an inside move between the third and fourth corners. “The Dude” increased his advantage while Schatz battled “The King of the Outlaws” during the final five laps. Lasoski took the checkered flag with 10 car-lengths to spare as Schatz passed Kinser for the runner-up spot with a high move through turn four.

Kinser finished in third place, ahead of Saldana, Swindell, Jason Meyers, Johnny Herrera, Paul McMahan, Tim Shaffer and Fourth Heat Race winner Tim Kaeding.

McMahan and Shaffer started on the 10th row and raced past 11 cars to finish eighth and ninth, respectively. Jac Haudenschild drove the #4 RacetoHawaii.com Maxim into 15th place from outside the 12th row.

Saldana paced the qualifying session for the second straight night with a 128.342-M.P.H. lap.
