10th Annual 360 BRODIX Tournament of Champions

56 cars

Travis Rilat set quick time in group qualifying at 16.577 seconds. Randy Martin was second quick, followed by Wayne Johnson, Billy Alley, Dustin Selvage, Dave Hall, Eric Baldaccini, Jared Ridge, Gary Wright and Kenny Adams. Dustin Long broke a driveshaft in hot laps and headed home early for Elida, Ohio.

Heat one (started): 1. Don Droud Jr. 27 (1) 2. Matt Moro 2m (3) 3. Gary Taylor 5* (4) / 4. Lee Sowell 51s (2) 5. Rilat 29 (6) 6. Baldaccini B4 (5) 7. Matt Covington 95 (7) 8. Eric Lutz 5 (8) 9. Nate Mosher 22N (9) 10. Andy Huston 40 (10)

8-lap heats had an invert of six, and took the top three to the A main. The track was wide enough to pass, but quicker timers struggled with the inversion. Droud led the distance.

Heat two (started): 1. Troy Little 20AU (1) 2. Nick Smith 15s (2) 3. Martin 14 (6) / 4. Jonathan Cornell 28 (4) 5. Joe Wood Jr. 03 (7) 6. Bobby Mincer 15 (3) 7. Lee Grosz 4J (8) 8. Ridge 12 (5) 9. John Schulz 2 (9) DNS – Darren Long 7L

Little led flag to flag with N. Smith in tow. Winged Outlaw Warriors drivers Martin and Cornell exchanged the final transfer twice before Martin wrestled it away for good.

Heat three (started): 1. Ryan Roberts 18 (1) 2. Jack Dover 53D (3) 3. Jason Johnson 41 (4) / 4. JD Johnson 98 (2) 5. W. Johnson 94 (6) 6. Ben Gregg 22B (8) 7. Josh Schneiderman 49 (7) 8. Samantha Taylor 17 (9) 9. Wright 9 (5)

Roberts led the duration. J. Johnson worked under JD Johnson for the final transfer. Wright retired for the night on lap two in a race that included the top three in ASCoT points (J. Johnson, Wright, W. Johnson).

Heat four (started): 1. Dustin Daggett 2MX (2) 2. Josh Higday 10 (1) 3. Alley 22 (6) / 4. Adams 4A (5) 5. Don Young 75 (4) 6. Matt Tiffany 19T (7) 7. Brock Lemley 4 (3) 8. Joe Beaver 53 (8) 9. Matt Harms 53H (9)

Daggett led the distance. Alley took the last transfer on the third lap from row three.

Heat five (started): 1. Brian Brown 21 (2) 2. Zach Chappell 50z (1) 3. Garry Lee Maier 11x (8) / 4. Selvage 7 (6) 5. Brett Mather 54 (4) 6. Jesse Giannetto D1 (5) 7. Jerrod Hull 41A (7) 8. Curtis Evans 1P (9) 9. Joe Ramaker 98R (3)

Brown got the jump on Chappell to complete lap one. Ramaker shelled a rear-end on lap two bringing a caution. Brown led Chappell, Mather and Maier (from 8th) back to green flag racing. Maier took advantage of the restart to grab the last transfer with a good run.

Heat six (started): 1. Natalie Sather 94s (1) 2. Tim Crawley 88 (4) 3. D. Hall 51 (6) / 4. Roger Crockett 7N (3) 5. Solwold 39c (5) 6. Ryan Jamison 51J (2) 7. Bryn Gohn 4B (8) 8. Kathryne Minter 13 (9) 9. Jared Peterson 9P (7)

Sather ran the cushion to pace the field. Crawley moved by Jamison early into second. Peterson came to a stop on lap five and retired. The restart saw Sather ahead of Crawley, D. Hall, Jamison and Crockett. The top three held.

B main one (started): 1. W. Johnson (2) 2. Ridge (4) 3. Rilat (1) / 4. Baldaccini (3) 5. Cornell (6) 6. Wood Jr. (9) 7. Sowell (8) 8. Grosz (14) 9. Schneiderman (12) 10. Covington (10) 11. Mincer (5) 12. Gregg (13) 13. Lutz (11) 14. Mosher (16) 15. Taylor (18) 16. Huston (17) 17. JD Johnson (7) 18. Schulz (15) DNS – Wright

W. Johnson dove under Rilat in one and two for the early lead. Ridge was strong on the bottom and moved into third. He passed Rilat for second after a lap six restart for JD Johnson who suffered suspension issues.

B main two (started): 1. Adams (2) 2. Giannetto (3) 3. Selvage (1) / 4. Solwold (4) 5. Mather (6) 6. Young (5) 7. Lemley (7) 8. Beaver (12) 9. Crockett (9) 10. Hull (10) 11. Tiffany (11) 12. Gohn (15) 13. Peterson (13) 14. Minter (16) 15. Evans (17) 16. Harms (14) 17. Jamison (8) DNS – Ramaker, Long

Adams led the duration in the 12-lapper and won going away. Giannetto used the low side to move by Selvage, who held off Solwold. He would break a seal in the rear-end and not make it out for the main event.

Tournament of Champions (started): 1. J. Johnson (2) 2. Alley (5) 3. Brown (11) 4. W. Johnson (19) 5. Droud Jr. (7) 6. Martin (6) 7. Daggett (10) 8. Rilat (23) 9. D. Hall (4) 10. Higday (16) 11. Gregg (30, pr.) 23. Young (28, pr.) 24. Ramaker (29, pr.) 25. Sather (12) 26. Crawley (1) 27. Dover (15) 28. Schulz (26, pr.) 29. Taylor (3) DNS - Giannetto

Taylor shot out to a good start on the bottom of turns one and two and began to pull away from front row starters, J. Johnson and Crawley in the 30 lapper. On lap five, he coasted to a stop in turn four after possibly breaking a gear. Crawley inherited the lead ahead of J. Johnson, Alley, D. Hall and Martin. One more lap was in the books when W. Johnson stopped on the backstretch with mud lodged under the throttle pedal. He would remove it and start an incredible run from the back. J. Johnson had taken the lead on the previous lap ahead of Crawley, Alley, Martin and D. Hall. On lap eight, trouble for Schulz and Dover, who both retired, slowed things again. J. Johnson led Crawley, Alley, a quickly surging Brown and Martin. Alley and Brown moved into second and third before Crawley retired from fourth on lap 17. The trio led Martin and D. Hall. W. Johnson blasted into the top ten after the restart. During the caution he had thrown a broken brake line to an official, but it didn't slow him down much. While the lead trio weaved through traffic, W. Johnson picked off sixth, fifth and finally fourth. J. Johnson negotiated traffic well after the caution and grabbed $5,000 and his first ToC win. W. Johnson came all the way from the tail, but officially was credited with moving up 15 spots, as was Rilat. The ASCoT series won the team title ahead of Knoxville, and ASCS-Midwest.
