Lasoski Tops Wild Night at Knoxville! Before a lap
could be completed in the 410 feature, Davey Heskin spun, and so did Logan
Forler, who was trying to avoid contact. On the restart, something
seemed to break in Dakota Hendrickson’s mount and he shot sideways high
into the turn one fence. He walked to the ambulance under his own
power after the vicious accident. Justin
Henderson led the 20-lapper once the green flag replaced the red, ahead of
Lynton Jeffrey and Lasoski. On lap two, Terry McCarl took fourth
from Brian Brown and reeled in the lead trio. Lasoski used his
patented low groove to shoot under Jeffrey for second on lap six, before
Heskin slowed after contact from another car. Henderson
led Lasoski, Jeffrey, McCarl and Dusty Zomer back to green flag racing in
the last slowdown of the event. McCarl worked his way to the podium
with a pass of Jeffrey in turn two on lap twelve. As the leaders
entered lapped traffic, Lasoski began to reel in Henderson aboard the Big
Game Motorsports #2. He made his winning move on the low side on lap
sixteen. Lasoski’s win came ahead of Henderson, McCarl, Jeffrey and
Zomer. Craig Dollansky, Brown, Bill Balog, Ian Madsen and Bryan
Clauson rounded out the top ten.. Lasoski also
registered quick time on the night, while Jeffrey, Josh Schneiderman and
Tasker Phillips won heat races. Tim Kaeding, who was second quick
had nowhere to go in his heat race when Scott Bogucki hit the turn three
berm and got sideways. Both were done for the night. Bronson
Maeschen was third quick, but a major steering issue caused him to drive
into the turn four wall and wreck hard in his heat. He was also done
for the night. “When you
have a car as mobile as we do, it really helps,” said Lasoski in Victory
Lane. “Again, thanks to Tod Quiring for putting this team together,
with Guy Forbrook, Pete, Nate, Brady and Asa. I feel like I’m
eighteen old again. The guys you race here on Saturday night are the
guys you’re going to race with up front at the Nationals. That’s how
good and high class the competition is here every week.” McCarl
pulled double duty and led the first two laps of the 360 feature.
Zomer took over from there, as the lead trio of Zomer, McCarl and
Henderson separated themselves from the pack. The lone caution came
out for a lap three spin by Sawyer Phillips. Zomer looked
impressive in traffic pulling off his second win here in as many
weeks. McCarl followed, ahead of Henderson, Nate Van Haaften and
Clint Garner. Matt Moro, Ryan Giles, Jamie Ball, Josh Baughman and
Tony Shilling rounded out the top ten. McCarl set quick time, while
Scottie McDonald, Jon Agan and Henderson won heat races. Jonathan
Cornell spun in his heat race, collecting Joe Beaver and ending Cornell’s
night. Almost simultaneously, a bank of lights went out, causing a
brief power outage delay. “We were
getting ready for the 360 Nationals as well as the 410, just getting ready
for the next couple weeks,” said Zomer in Victory Lane. “The car was
really good tonight. We had the thing ripping around really
well. The caution helped us. I was able to make some
adjustments with the wing that really helped. We were just really
happy to get another win here and keep it rolling.” Kline led
from start to finish in the 12-lap 305 feature. Matthew Stelzer
chased him early, before Kline’s teammate, Jamie Ball moved into the
runner-up spot on lap five. It seemed like the race was going to go
green to checker before Kevin Hiemstra and Rob Weuve tangled in front of
the third place running Stelzer with two laps to go. The result saw
a red flag, but no one was injured in the melee. Kline went
on to win in front of Ball, McKenna Haase, Chris Walraven and Brad
Comegys. Christian Bowman, hard-charger Mitchell Alexander, Kade
Higday, Stacey Alexander and Mike Mayberry rounded out the top ten.
Bowman set quick time on the field, while Stacey Alexander, Higday, and
Mitchell Alexander won heat races. Rob Edwards, making his first
appearance in several years at Knoxville hit a spinning Josh Jones and
launched into the wall in his heat race. He was transported with a
foot injury. “It seems
like forever, but I’ve been itching to get back,” said Kline of the 305’s
long layoff. “The car was perfect tonight. I couldn’t ask for
anything else. My hat’s off to my crew tonight. I can’t wait
to get back again.” Join us next
